Privacy Policy
Effective: 2026-05-01
What's Up is a macOS menu-bar utility. This policy documents what the app and this website
do, and don't do, with your data.
1. Data we never collect
- Process data (PIDs, command lines, cwd, parent chain, editor attribution, listening ports)
- Project paths, file contents, git remotes, commit history
- System configuration or installed application lists
- Location, contacts, browsing history, or any other privacy-sensitive macOS entitlement
Everything above is processed locally on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or analysed.
2. When the app talks to the internet
- License activation and validation: when you enter a License Key, the app
sends to our Cloudflare-hosted verification endpoint: (a) the License Key; (b) a SHA-256
hash of your Mac's hardware UUID (a one-way "device fingerprint" from which the original
UUID cannot be recovered); (c) the app version. We don't retain IP addresses; Cloudflare
keeps edge logs for up to 7 days for abuse protection.
- Update checks: on launch the app performs a standard HTTP GET against
GitHub Releases to check for new versions. No account or process data is included.
3. Cookies and analytics
This site (findwhatsup.com) uses Plausible for aggregate, cookieless, GDPR-compliant analytics.
Only page views and referrer are recorded; no individual user can be identified. The app
itself uses no analytics SDK.
4. Data retention
- License records (key, device fingerprint, last-seen timestamp): until refund or deletion request
- Cloudflare edge access logs: 7 days
- Plausible aggregate data: 24 months
5. Your rights
You may request deletion of all data associated with your License Key at any time. Email
hello@findwhatsup.com with your License Key;
we respond within 14 days.
6. Changes
Any material change to this policy will be announced in-app and reflected by updating the
Effective date above.
